BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University freshman outfielder Kacie Carvalho has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Rookie of the Week.

A native of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, Carvalho batted .636 (7-11) with two triples, a stolen base, four runs scored and four RBI in a 4-0 week for the Bears last week. She also posted a .692 on base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Carvalho went 4-for-5 with two triples, two walks, three runs scored and four RBI in a sweep of Massachusetts Maritime, and 3-for-6 with a run scored in a conference sweep of Framingham State.

In 25 games this season, including 19 starts, Carvalho is batting .460 (23-50) with two doubles, three triples, a pair of stolen bases, 12 runs scored and ten RBI. She is also sporting a .509 on base percentage and a .620 slugging percentage.

The BSU softball team wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 23-13 including an 11-3 MASCAC mark. Seeded second in this week's MASCAC Tournament, the Bears will host a second round game on Friday afternoon at 4:00 PM against either #3 Westfield State University or #6 MCLA.
