Courtney Leddy Named MASCAC Softball Co-Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore second baseman Courtney Leddy has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Co-Player of the Week. Leddy shares the weekly honor along with Westfield State sophomore Erika Gouin.

A native of Saugus, Massachusetts, Leddy batted .500 (10-20) with three doubles, a triple, three walks, seven runs scored and two RBI in a 4-2 week for the Bears. She also posted a .565 on base percentage and a .750 slugging percentage.

Leddy went 4-for-9 with a double, triple, three runs and an RBI in a MASCAC sweep of Westfield State. She was also 3-for-6 with a double, two walks and four runs scored in a sweep of Lasell College, and 3-or-5 with a double, a walk and an RBI in a pair of conference setbacks to Worcester State.

Through 20 games this season, Leddy is batting .368 (25-68) with four doubles, a pair of triples, 14 runs scored and 12 RBI. She is currently tied for fifth in the MASCAC in both hits and triples. Leddy is also tied for eighth in the conference in RBI and ranks ninth in runs.

In 55 games over her first two seasons at Bridgewater State, Leddy is sporting a career batting average of .290 (42-145) with six doubles, two triples, 24 runs scored and 16 RBI.

As a freshman in 2014, Leddy earned back-to-back MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors for her performances at the MASCAC Tournament and the NCAA Division III Wellesley Regional. She was a combined 9-for-17 (.529) during tournament play with a pair of doubles, eight runs scored and two RBI.

The BSU softball team is currently 13-7 on the season and 3-3 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to Mass. Maritime Academy on Tuesday afternoon (3:30) for a pair of conference games with the Buccaneers.
