Kathleen Bailey Named MASCAC Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Kathleen Bailey has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week. Bailey shares the weekly honor along with Fitchburg State University sophomore Terri Ferrazzani.

A native of Bayport, New York, Bailey went 2-1 with three complete games and a shutout in four starts for the Bears at the season-opening Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. She posted a 2.42 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 26 innings of work while opponents batted just .202 against her.

Bailey tossed a one-hit shutout with six strikeouts in a 4-0 win over Alverno College and allowed just one run on four hits with three strikeouts in a 9-1 victory over Pitt-Bradford. 

Bailey currently leads the MASCAC in complete games (3) and innings pitched (26.0). She is also tied for third in wins (2) and ranks fifth in ERA (2.42) and eighth in strikeouts (13).

In 17appearances over two seasons with the Bears including 12 starts, Bailey is 4-5 with eight complete games, three shutouts and a save.  She has fanned 54 batters in  80 1/3 innings of work and sports a 2.96 ERA.

The BSU softball team posted a record of 7-3 during the trip to Fort Myers.  The Bears are off until Sunday, March 22nd when they travel to Wheaton College for a noontime doubleheader with the Lyons.
