BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fifth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior right-hander Amber White has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Softball Pitcher of the Week. White shares the weekly honor along with Allyson Fournier of Tufts University.

The MVP of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Tournament, Whit led the Bears to their second straight conference title and ninth in program history. The Middleboro, Massachusetts went 3-0 with three complete games and a pair of shutouts during the tournament.  In 21 innings, White fanned 18 batters and posted a 0.33 earned run average.

By virtue of the MASCAC Tournament championship, Bridgewater earned an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Tournament.  The Bears are competing in the NCAAs for the second consecutive year and 22nd time in program history.

White tossed a complete game, five-hit shutout with ten strikeouts in a 6-0 quarterfinal round win over Framingham State.  She followed that performance up with a three-hit shutout in a 6-0 semifinal round victory over Worcester State.  White capped off the tournament by allowing just one run while fanning four as the Bears captured the tournament title with an 8-1 triumph over Framingham State.

In 27 appearances including 23 starts this season, White is 22-3 with 21 complete games and a school single-season record 15 shutouts.  She has posted an impressive 0.42 earned run average with 141 strikeouts in 168 1/3 innings of work. Opponents are also batting just .148 against her.

White leads the MASCAC in wins, winning percentage (.880), shutouts, ERA, complete games, games started, innings pitched and appearances.  She is also tied for first in the conference in saves (2) and ranks third in strikeouts.

On a national level, White leads all of Division III in ERA, ranks second in shutouts and is fourth in fewest hits allowed per seven innings (3.42).

In 83 appearances including 69 starts over three seasons with the Bears, White is 53-16 (.768) with a 0.90 earned run average, 60 complete games and 29 shutouts as well as six saves.  She has also fanned 410 batters in 492 2/3 innings of work.

A three-time MASCAC Pitcher of the Year, White is BSU's all-time leader in shutouts and earned run average.  She is also tied for second all-time with three no-hitters and ranks third in program history in strikeouts.

White, who also spent one season (2011) at Plymouth State University before transferring to BSU, has produced 63 collegiate wins with a career 1.20 ERA and 510 strikeouts in 612 innings of work.

Earlier this week, White was named the MASCAC Pitcher of the Week for an impressive fifth straight week, seventh time this season and 11th time in her career. She was also selected as the conference player of week.

The BSU softball team will begin NCAA Division III Tournament play on Friday as the Bears will compete at a four-team Regional hosted by Wellesley College.  The Bears will take on host Wellesley on Friday afternoon at 3:30.
