Amber White Named ECAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fourth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior right-hander Amber White has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Softball Pitcher of the Week. White shares the weekly honor along with Alyson Nisbet of Lesley University.

White went 3-0 with three complete games in three appearances for the Bears last week including a pair of shutout victories in a MASCAC sweep of Fitchburg State. The Middleboro, Massachusetts native allowed just one unearned run and fanned 17 in 23 innings of work.

White tossed a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts in a 2-0 win over Fitchburg.  She also hurled a four-hit shutout and struck out eight in a 1-0 triumph over the Falcons in nine innings.  White also gave up just one unearned run and fanned five in a 2-1 victory over conference foe MCLA.

In 24 appearances including 20 starts this season, White is 19-3 with 18 complete games and a school record-tying 13 shutouts.  She has posted an impressive 0.43 earned run average with 123 strikeouts in 147 1/3 innings of work. Opponents are also batting just .143 against her.

White presently leads the MASCAC in wins, winning percentage (.864), shutouts, ERA, complete games, games started, innings pitched and appearances.  She is also tied for first in the conference in saves (2) and ranks third in strikeouts.

On a national level, White ranks second in all of Division III in both ERA and shutouts, and is fifth in fewest hits allowed per seven innings (3.42).

In 80 appearances including 66 starts over three seasons with the Bears, White is 50-16 (.758) with a 0.92 earned run average, 57 complete games and 27 shutouts as well as six saves.  She has fanned 392 batters in 471 2/3 innings of work and has strikeout to walk ratio of more than 6 to 1.

A two-time MASCAC Pitcher of the Year, White is BSU's all-time leader in shutouts.  She is also tied for second all-time with three no-hitters and ranks third in program history in strikeouts. . White's 0.92 career ERA is presently lower than Amanda Sanson's (1999-2002) all-time mark of 1.11.

White, who also spent one season (2011) at Plymouth State University before transferring to BSU, has produced 60 collegiate wins with a career 1.23 ERA and 492 strikeouts in 591innings of work.
