BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior pitcher Amber White has been named as a first team selection on the 2014 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Softball All-Star Team.

White, who hails from Middleboro, Massachusetts, is making her second straight appearance on the ECAC regional all-star squad as she was a second team selection in 2013.

On the diamond in 2014, White was nothing but spectacular.  In 32 appearances including 28 starts, she posted a record of 25-5 (.833) with 25 complete games and a school single-season record 15 shutouts.  White also recorded an impressive 0.73 earned run average with 158 strikeouts in 202 2/3 innings of work. Opponents batted just .168 against her.

White led the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in wins, winning percentage (.833), shutouts, ERA, complete games, games started, innings pitched and appearances.  She is also tied for first in the conference in saves (2) and ranked second in strikeouts.

On a national level, White ranked second in all of Division III in ERA and shutouts, and eighth in both wins and fewest hits allowed per seven innings (4.11).

White was named the MVP of both the MASCAC Tournament as well as the NCAA Division III Wellesley Regional.  The conference tournament title marked the second straight for the Bears as well as the ninth in program history.

By virtue of the Wellesley Regional championship, Bridgewater advanced to a Super Regional against defending national champion Tufts University.  The host Bears were eliminated by the Jumbos in a best of three series.

In 88 appearances including 74 starts over three seasons at Bridgewater State, White went 56-18 (.757) in the circle with a 0.98 earned run average, 64 complete games and 29 shutouts as well as six saves.  She also fanned 427 batters in 527 innings of work.

A three-time MASCAC Pitcher of the Year, White is BSU's all-time leader in shutouts and earned run average.  She is also tied for second all-time with three no-hitters and ranks third in program history in wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched.

White, who also spent one season (2011) at Plymouth State University before transferring to BSU, produced 66 collegiate wins overall with a career 1.26 ERA and 527 strikeouts in 646 1/3 innings of work.

White graduated Magna Cum Laude from BSU on May 17th with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a concentration in Ecological Biology and a minor in Chemistry.  She wrapped up a brilliant academic career with a 3.63 grade point average.

White was named to the Dean's List in each of her six semesters at Bridgewater State and is a member of the both the National Biological Honor Society (Beta Beta Beta) and the National College Athlete Honor Society (Chi Alpha Sigma).

Last month, White was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-America First Team.  She was also selected to the the Capital One NCAA Division III Academic All-America® First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
