BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight season, Bridgewater State University senior pitcher Amber White has been selected as an NCAA Division III Capital One Academic All-District Softball honoree by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (Co-SIDA).

White earned first team honors in District One, which is comprised of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, and advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

In 24 appearances including 20 starts this season, White is 19-3 with 18 complete games and a school record-tying 13 shutouts.  She has posted an impressive 0.43 earned run average with 123 strikeouts in 147 1/3 innings of work. Opponents are also batting just .143 against her.

White presently leads the MASCAC in wins, winning percentage (.864), shutouts, ERA, complete games, games started, innings pitched and appearances.  She is also tied for first in the conference in saves (2) and ranks third in strikeouts.

On a national level, White ranks second in all of Division III in both ERA and shutouts, and is fifth in fewest hits allowed per seven innings (3.42).

A three-time MASCAC Pitcher of the Year and first team all-conference selection, White helped the BSU softball team capture their second straight MASCAC regular season title and 25thoverall.  The Bears are the top seed and tournament host for the double-elimination portion of the 2014 MASCAC Tournament which gets underway this afternoon (Thursday) at four.

In the classroom, White boasts an impressive 3.64 grade point average while majoring in Biology with a concentration in Ecological Biology.  She has been named to the Dean’s List in each of her first five semesters at Bridgewater State and is a member of the both the National Biological Honor Society (Beta Beta Beta) and the National College Athlete Honor Society (Chi Alpha Sigma).

In 80 appearances including 66 starts over three seasons with the Bears, White is 50-16 (.758) with a 0.92 earned run average, 57 complete games and 27 shutouts as well as six saves.  She has fanned 392 batters in 471 2/3 innings of work and has strikeout to walk ratio of more than 6 to 1.

White is BSU's all-time leader in shutouts and ERA, and is tied for second with three no-hitters.  She also ranks third in program history in strikeouts.

White, who also spent one season (2011) at Plymouth State University before transferring to BSU, has produced 60 collegiate wins overall with a career 1.23 ERA and 492 strikeouts in 591 innings of work.
