KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- The Bridgewater State College softball team wrapped up the Florida portion of their schedule with a split of pair of games against Suffolk University and Millikin University.
The Bears, who ended the trip with a record of 4-4, knocked off Suffolk, 9-6, before dropping a 15-10 decision to Millikin
In the opener, BSC erased a 6-2 deficit with a seven-run fifth inning highlighted by four straight doubles by Rachael Sprague, Meghan Noyes, Lindsey Allison and Stacy Capodiece. Sprague drove in a pair of runs with her double to start the uprising.
Alyssa Verronneau started and went 3 1/3 innings giving up five earned runs. Jillian Vancellette picked up the win in relief as she allowed just one run over the final 3 2/3 innings. Vancellette scattered three hits and did not walk a batter.
BSC pitchers struggled in the 15-10 loss to Millikin as they issued 16 walks.
Offensively for the Bears, Danielle Trull-Donahue went 3-for-3 with a double and four runs scored. Noyes finished 3-for-3 as well with a walk, two runs batted in and three runs scored.
Nicole Hebert belted her third home run of the season, a three-run blast in the sixth inning. Sprague singled and doubled in four at bats as she drove in three runs.
