Men's Track & Field Competes at NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON, Mass. -- Qualifying members of the Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team competed during day one of the 2015 New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships hosted by Boston University on Friday.

Five Bears advanced to Saturday's finals or semifinals in their respective events at the meet which features competition from all three NCAA divisions in New England.

Senior Brian Espinosa (Rehoboth, Mass.) finished sixth in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 21.87 seconds. Espinosa was just 2/10 of a second off his own program mark of 21.77 set last season at the NCAA Division III Championships.

Junior Conor Murtagh (Walpole, Mass.) had the third fastest time in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles as he posted a time of 8.19 seconds.

In the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash, senior Chinedu Chukwu (Randolph, Mass.), classmate Joseph Danner-Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) and junior Andrew Couture (Dighton, Mass.) finished seventh (6.93), tenth (6.97) and 12th (7.00), respectively. Couture recorded a personal best time in the event.

Senior Josh Goehring (Haverhill, Mass.) placed 11th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.72, while freshman Darion Sadri (Northfield, Mass.) placed 14th in the long jump (21'3.50/6.49m) and junior Kevin Sawyer (Woburn, Mass.) finished 16th in the 500-meter run (1:06.21). Goehring was just 3/10 of a second off his own BSU indoor mark of 1:53.43 set last season at the NEICAAA Championships.
