A native of Rhode Island, Jay Schotter joined the Bridgewater State University swimming and diving coaching staff prior to the start of the 2013-2014 season. After a one-year hiatus, Coach Schotter returned to the staff in 2018-2019. Jay is a 2013 graduate of Bridgewater State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.  

While at Bridgewater, Coach Schotter was a two-year varsity captain for the men's swimming and diving team as well as a two-year member of the Bears' Student Athlete Advising Committee. During his senior season, the team garnered the Steve Looke Team Sportsmanship Award which is annually bestowed upon the program that best exhibits the tenets of sportsmanship throughout the three-day New England Iintercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association Championships.

Schotter graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, Rhode Island in 2008. He was a senior captain of the state championship team and top eight finisher in the 500-yard freestyle. Jay currently resides in Lincoln, Rhode Island. In 2016, he earned a Master’s degree at Northeastern University in Sports Leadership.
