Three Bears Named to Little East All-Conference Field Hockey Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Senior forward Brittany Cullinane garnered first team honors to highlight Bridgewater State's three representatives on the 2016 Little East Conference Field Hockey All-Conference Team.

Joining Cullinane on the All-Little East Team from Bridgewater State are junior defender Katherine McKenna and sophomore midfielder Samantha Hayes. McKenna and Hayes both earned third team accolades.

Cullinane set career highs with 21 goals and 46 points in 17 games this season. The Lunenburg, Massachusetts product leads the Little East with eight game-winning goals and ranks second in both goals and points.

On a national level, Cullinane currently ranks ninth in all of Division III in goals and is 12th in scoring.

In 75 games over four seasons with the Bears, Cullinane amassed 38 goals (14 game-winners) and ten assists for 86 career points. She is fourth all-time at Bridgewater State in both goals and points.

McKenna, who hails from Wilmington, Massachusetts, paced the BSU defensive backfield with five defensive saves in 17 games this season while also adding an assist. She is tied for third in the Little East with the five defensive saves.

A native of Norwood, Massachusetts, Hayes set career highs with eight goals and four assists for 20 points as she appeared in all 18 games this year. Three of her eight goals were game-winners.

In 37 games over her first two seasons with the Bears, Hayes has accumulated ten goals and seven assists for 27 points. 

The BSU field hockey team posted a record of 11-7 on the season with a 6-5 mark in the Little East. Seeded seventh in the LEC Tournament, the Bears knocked off #2 seed Worcester State, 3-1, in the quarterfinals before dropping a 3-0 decision to #6 Southern Maine in the semifinals.
