BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Senior forward Brittany Cullinane (Lunenburg, Mass.) tallied the game's only goal as the Bridgewater State University field hockey team blanked visiting UMass Dartmouth, 1-0, in a Little East Conference contest on Tuesday evening at Swenson Field.

The host Bears improve to 6-4 on the season and 4-4 in the Little East, while the Corsairs fall to 4-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

Cullinane blasted a shot from ten yards out in the 26th minute of play off an assist from sophomore forward Alexander Zoebisch (Plymouth, Mass.). The goal marked Cullinane's 12th of the season and 29th of her career.

BSU sophomore goaltender Allison Chappell (Raynham, Mass.) made two saves to record her sixth win and first solo shutout of the season.

Junior netminder Allison Burke (Franklin, Mass.) turned aside eight shots between the pipes for the Corsairs. Seven of Burke's eight saves came in the first half.

Bridgewater held a 19-13 shot advantage for the game as well as a 7-2 edge in penalty corners.

UMass Dartmouth's best scoring chance came in the opening minutes of the second half as senior midfielder Elizabeth St. Germaine (Wareham, Mass.) ripped a shot off the post. Junior midfielder Erin Kish (Littleton, Mass.) had the follow-up rebound, but her shot sailed wide of the net.

The Little East schedule continues for both teams on Saturday. The Bears entertain the Colonials of Western Connecticut State University at 1:30, while the Corsairs travel to Plymouth State University for a 6:30 game with the Panthers.
