BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman midfielder Samantha Hayes has been selected as the Little East Conference Field Hockey Rookie of the Week.

Hayes was an impact player in a solid week for Bridgewater State as the Bears went 1-1 in league competition. The Norwood, Massachusetts product buried the game-winning goal in BSU's 2-0 shutout victory over Little East rival Worcester State University.

In 12 games this season, including nine starts, Hayes has produced two goals and a pair of assists for six points from her midfield position. 

The BSU field hockey team is currently 7-5 on the season and 4-3 in the Little East standings. The Bears return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Salve Regina University for a seveno'clock game with the Seahawks.
