Women's Cross Country Picked Second in MASCAC Preseason Poll

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University Bears have been picked to finish second in the MASCAC Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll.

The Bears received two first place votes and garnered 32 points in the voting of the league's seven coaches.

Defending champion Westfield State University is the preseason favorite to place first at the MASCAC Championships on Halloween (Oct. 31) as the Owls tallied 35 points including five first place votes.

Returning to the Bears' lineup from last season are seniors Theresa Connolly (North Andover, Mass.), Emily Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.), Rachel Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Danielle Poto (North Andover, Mass.) as well as junior Erin Doyle (Seekonk, Mass.) and sophomores Melina Baker (Attleboro, Mass.), Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) and Sydney Quirk (Plymouth, Mass.).
