Ally Murphy Named Head Volleyball Coach

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University Director of Athletics, Dr. Marybeth Lamb, announced today that Ally Murphy has been named the new head coach of the Bears’ women’s volleyball program.

Ally is a 2011 graduate of Endicott College where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a Teacher Licensure. Ally also received a Masters of Nutrition Education from Framingham State University in 2015.

“We are very excited to have Ally Murphy lead the BSU Bears women’s volleyball team as our next head coach,” said Lamb. “Her abilities to recruit and develop talent as well as her background in student leadership will no doubt lead our team back to the top of the MASCAC.”

Ally spent four seasons on the Gulls volleyball team from 2007 to 2010 and captained the squad during her junior and senior seasons. Ally helped the team capture the Commonwealth Coach Conference (CCC) Tournament title and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament in both 2007 and 2008. She earned All-CCC honorable mentions honors as a setter in 2009 and was named to the CCC All-Academic Team in each of her four seasons.

During her time at Endicott, Ally served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was a member of the Varsity Club, the Physical Education Club and the Mortar Board Honor Society. In 2010, she was chosen as the school’s Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Ally also completed a coaching internship for men’s volleyball at her alma mater during her junior year.

Most recently, Ally served as the varsity volleyball coach and junior varsity softball coach at Norfolk County Agricultural High School from 2011 to 2016. She also coached volleyball at The Governor’s Academy (2010-2011), the Pass Set Crush Volleyball Camp (2005-Present), and the Endicott Nike Volleyball Camp (2009-2013).

Ally is currently a Physical Education Teacher and Wellness Instructor at Norfolk Aggie, a position she has held since 2011. She presently resides in Norfolk, Massachusetts.
