BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Serenity Sands has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

A native of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Sands placed third in the high jump with a leap of five feet, three inches (1.60m) last Friday at the Emory Thrills in the Hills in Atlanta, Georgia.

Sands is currently ranked 15th in all of Division III in the high jump and third in the East Region.

The MASCAC Field Athlete of the Week honor marks the 21st of Sands' career and ninth outdoor distinction.

The outdoor season continues for the women's track & field team on Saturday as the Bears will compete at the Amherst Spring Fling.
