Women's Track & Field Competes at Tufts & Emory

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team competed at a pair of meets on Saturday.

Two Bears ran the 100-meter dash during day two of the Emory Thrills in the Hills in Atlanta, Georgia while the majority of the team competed at the Tufts Snowflake Classic.

Freshman Grace Inacio (Taunton, Mass.) finished 17th in the 100 at Emory with a preliminary time of 12.50 seconds after posting a qualifying round time of 12.44 seconds, while graduate student Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.) checked in at 18th in the 100 with a preliminary time of 12.57 seconds.

At Tufts, Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) captured top honors in both the 100-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles. McDonough posted times of 12.35 seconds in the 100 and 14.95 seconds in the hurdles.

Graduate student Juliana Patrone (Wilmington, Mass.) placed second in the high jump at Tufts with a leap of five feet, 1.25 inches (1.56m), while senior Natalie Kalgren (Ayer, Mass.) finished eighth in the javelin with a toss of 91 feet, 11 inches (28.02m).

The Bears finished tenth in the team standings at the Tufts Snowflake Classic with 26 points.

Next Saturday, the Bears will head to Amherst College for the Amherst Spring Fling.
