
BOSTON, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University graduate student Alison McDonough (Halifax, Mass.) and seniors Serenty Sands (East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Kiara Abrantes (Somerset, Mass.) garnered All-New England honors on Saturday during the second and final day of the Division III New England Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships held at The Track at New Balance.
McDonough won the New England title in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 8.81 seconds, and placed second in the finals of the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.74 seconds.
Sands placed second in the high jump with a leap of five feet, 6.5 inches (1.69m).
Abrantes placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.10 seconds.
The top eight placewinners in each individual events at the championship meet earn All-New England accolades.
Junior Naomi Cass (Westport, Mass.) broke her own school record and placed ninth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:09.92. Cass eclipsed her previous mark of 10:10.49 set earlier this season at the River Hawk Invitational.
Freshman Grace Inacio (Taunton, Mass.) finished 12th in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 25.30 seconds.
The Bears placed ninth in the team standings at the meet with 31 points. Williams College won the team title with 142.50 points while MIT (108 pts.) and Tufts University (88 pts.) rounded out the top three teams.
Qualifying members of the BSU women's track & field team with compete on Friday and Saturday at the NEICAAA Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center.
