
BOSTON, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's track & field team competed on Friday at the Reggie Open held at the Reggie Lewis Center.
Senior Serenity Sands (East Bridgewater, Mass.) recorded the top performance in the high jump with a season-best leap of five feet, six inches (1.68m).
Senior Kiara Abrantes (Somerset, Mass.) captured top honors in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.32 seconds. Abrantes also placed second in the finals of the 60-meter dash as she equaled her personal-best (set last week at Tufts) with a time of 7.82 seconds.
Graduate student Jailene Escalera (Rockland, Mass.) placed third in both the 60 and 200. Escalera posted a finals time of 7.93 seconds in the 60 and clocked in at 26.03 seconds in the 200.
Freshman Grace Inacio (Taunton, Mass.) placed fifth in the finals of the 60 as she checked in at 8.06 seconds. In the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash, Inacio recorded a personal-best time of 7.98 seconds. She also placed fifth in the 200 with a time of 26.12 seconds.
Senior Lily Valcovic (East Taunton, Mass.) was the sixth runner to cross the finish line in the mile as she notched a time of 5:33.73.
Graduate student Juliana Patrone (Wilmington, Mass.) finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of four feet, 11 inches (1.50m).
The indoor schedule continues for the BSU track & field teams next weekend as the Bears will compete at the Tufts Cupid Challenge as well as the Harvard Open.
