Women's Track & Field Places 3rd at UMD Corsair Classic

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track & field team placed third at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic held on Saturday.

The Bears recorded 108.5 points to finish behind host UMass (158 pts.) and Roger Williams University (122.5 pts.) in the team standings.

Junior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) captured top honors in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles. Andrews posted times of 14.86 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and 1:05.54 in the 400-meter hurdles. She qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the 400 hurdles and currently ranks 14th in all of Division III in the 100 hurdles.

Junior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) finished first in both the shot put and the hammer throw. Gilbreath recorded a mark of 41 feet, 8.5 inches (12.71m) in the shot, and tossed the hammer 128 feet, one inch (39.03m).

Senior Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) was the top runner in the 800-meter run as she posted a time of 2:26.95.

Freshman Jamelah Foster (Fall River, Mass.) placed first in the discus and qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the event with a mark of 109 feet, three inches (33.29m).

Next Saturday, the Bears will compete at the Jerry Gravel Classic hosted by Westfield State University.
