Women's Indoor Track & Field Wins Five Events, Andrews Eclipses Hurdles Mark at Lyons Invitational

NORTON, Mass. -- Junior Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) eclipsed her own 60-meter hurdles record for the third time this season to lead the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team at the non-scoring Lyons Invitational hosted by Wheaton College on Saturday.

Andrews captured the meet title in the hurdles with a time of 9.01 seconds as she broke her previous BSU indoor record of 9.03 seconds set just last weekend at the Tufts Invitational. Andrews currently ranks third in New England and sixth in all of Division III in the event.

Andrews also placed first in the 400-meter dash (1:00.30) and ran the opening leg on the Bears' winning 4x400-meter relay squad (4:17.66) along with sophomore Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.) and juniors Madeline McNamara (Hull, Mass.) and Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.).

Senior Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) was the first to cross the finish line in the 1,000-meter run (3:07.55), while junior Kira Gilbreath (West Haven, Utah) captured top honors in the shot put (42'9"/13.03m).

The indoor season continues next weekend when the Bears compete at the Wheaton Invitational.
