Women's Outdoor Track & Field Ties for 10th at DIII New Englands

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Qualifying members of the Bridgewater State University women's track & field team competed during the second and final day of the 2017 Division III New England Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Williams College.

Four different Bears garnered All-New England honors as well as one relay.

Sophomore Ellie Bucknell (New Bedford, Mass.) placed second in the javelin with a season-best throw of 137 feet (41.77m).

Senior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) wrapped up the heptathlon with 4,276 points as she finished in third place. On Saturday, Richner posted a score of 563 points in the 800-meter run (2:40.90), 519 points in the long jump (15'11"/4.85m) and 383 points in the javelin (82'1"/25.03m).

Senior Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) placed sixth in the 200-meter dash with a school-record time of 25.34 seconds. Perry eclipsed the previous BSU outdoor mark of 25.35 seconds set by Kristin Neville back in 2003.

Perry also earned All-New England accolades in the 4x400-meter relay along with classmate Amanda Lane (Abington, Mass.), freshman Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.) and sophomore Molly McNamara (Hull, Mass.). The foursome posted a time of 3:57.78 to finish in seventh place.

Freshman Molly Dewar (Grafton, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' All-New England performers with an eighth place showing in the discus throw. Dewar recorded a mark of 118 feet, ten inches (36.22m).

Bridgewater tied for tenth place in the team standings with 20 points.

Next weekend, qualifying members of the BSU women's outdoor track & field team will compete at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships also hosted by Williams.
