Women's Track & Field Competes at Wesleyan Invitational

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -- The Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team competed at the non-scoring Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday.

Sophomore Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) captured the meet title in the 60-meter hurdles with a finals time of 9.30 seconds. Junior Kristin Leone (Weymouth, Mass.) placed fourth in the event with a time of 9.53 seconds.

Leone added a third place showing in the long jump with a season-best mark of 16 feet, five inches (5.00m).

Senior Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) placed second in the 60-meter dash with a finals time of 8.17 seconds, while freshman Tess Miller (Uxbridge, Mass.) and Andrews finished second (59.64) and third (59.66), respectively, in the 400-meter dash.

Senior Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) placed second in the 1,000-meter run (3:08.19), while seniors Rachel Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Emily Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished second (19:26.02) and fourth (19:56.52), respectively, in the 5,000-meter run.

Sophomore Kassidy Campbell (Norton, Mass.) checked in with a third place showing in the 600-meter run (1:45.59).

Senior Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.) highlighted the Bears' throwing events as she placed third in the shot put and fifth in the weight throw. Maymon posted career-best marks of 37 feet, eight inches (11.48m) in the shot put, and 46 feet, 10.25 inches (14.28m) in the weight throw.

Senior Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' top five performers as she placed fifth and qualified for the Division III New England Championships in the shot put with a career-best toss of 36 feet, 11.75 inches (11.27m).

Next Saturday, the BSU indoor track & field teams will compete at the MASCAC/New England Alliance Championships hosted by the University of Southern Maine.
