Women's Track Places Third at Corsair Classic

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's outdoor track and field team placed third at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic on Saturday.

The Bears recorded a score of 120.5 points, finishing behind host UMass Dartmouth (178 points) and Worcester State University (173 points).

Junior Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, Mass.) placed first in the 100-meter hurdles (16.30 seconds) and qualified for the ECAC Division III Championships in the event.  Robitaille was also the top finisher and qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.61).  She also placed second in the triple jump (34'0.25").

Junior Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, Mass.) won the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:58.09) and qualified for both the ECACs and DIII New Englands.  Senior Brittany Page (Winthrop, Mass.) posted a distance of 126 feet, eight inches to win the hammer throw event.

Junior Co Davis (Mansfield, Mass.) placed second in the 400-meter dash (1:01.88) and qualified for the DIII New England meet.  Freshman Melissa Chiasson (Maynard, Mass.) did the same in the discus with a toss of 108 feet, three inches.

Senior Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, Mass.) added a second place showing in the 800-meter run (2:27.78).

Next Saturday, the Bears travel to Northeastern University for the Bernard Solomon Invitational.
