Robitaille Propels Women's Track At Bryant Inviational

Smithfield, RI -- Junior Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, MA) continued her stellar campaign as she placed fifth and broke her own school record in the triple jump to help lead the Bridgewater State women's outdoor track and field team at the non-scoring Bryant Invitational.

The meet featured Division I competition from around New England, MASCAC rival Worcester State, Southern Maine, several community colleges and local track clubs.

Robitaille posted a leap of 34 feet, 11.25 inches as she eclipsed the previous mark of 34 feet, 6.25 inches which she shared with former BSU track and field athlete Rachael Ackley.

Robitaille also placed10th in the long jump (4.93 meters) and 15th in the 100 meter hurdles (16.88).

Third-year Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, MA) was one of eight who tied for eighth in the high jump (1.42m) before she clocked 22nd (5:03.35) in the 1,500.

Senior Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, MA) and junior Melissa Harris (Uxbridge, MA) each placed 19th (2:28.70) and 31st (2:32.90), respectively, in the 800 while freshman Karen Anselmi (Franklin, MA) added 19th in the 400 (1:04.49).

Senior Brittany Page (Winthrop, MA) led the effort for the Bears in the field as she came in 14th in the hammer (38.95m), 16th in the discus (27.90m) and 22nd in the shot put (9.56m).

In relay action, the 4x400 meter relay team crossed the finish line in fourth with a time of 4:14.91.

Next week Bridgewater State will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
