Women's Track Places 3rd at MASCAC Indoor Championships

GORHAM, Maine -- The Bridgewater State College Bears finished in third place at the 2009 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships held at the University of Southern Maine on Saturday.

BSC posted a score of 50.0 points finishing behind Worcester State College (166.5 pts) and MASCAC champions Westfield State College (234.0 pts).

Sophomores Amanda Hauswirth (Methuen, MA) and Brittany Page (Winthrop, MA) led the way for the Bears as they each posted a second place finish.  Hauswirth crossed the line in a time of 5:38.20, while Page registered a throw of 9.71 meters in the shot put. Hauswirth also placed third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:24.73.

Junior Carrie Robitaille (Ludlow, MA) added a third place finish in the 55-meter hurdles (9.81), while the Bears' relay team of Robitaille, sophomore Louise Comerford (Billerica, MA), freshman Victoria Harkins (Tyngsboro, MA) and freshman Jessie Lefebvre (Waterville, ME) placed second in the 4 x 400-meter relay (4:38.98).
