Madeline Von Ruden Named Little East Women's Tennis Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University junior Madeline Von Ruden has been selected as the Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.

Von Ruden led the Bears to a perfect 3-0 week with three consecutive 9-0 wins over Little East teams The Ashley Falls, Massachusetts native won in straight sets at number one singles over her opponents from Salem State (6-2, 6-2), UMass Dartmouth (6-4, 6-4) and Plymouth State (6-0, 6-1). Von Ruden also teamed with graduate student Mackenzie Silveira for a trio of first flight doubles victories.

In four seasons with the Bears, Von Ruden has produced a 29-25 (18-10 LEC) doubles record and is 23-25 (16-11 LEC) in singles play competing exclusively at the top flight.

The LEC Player of the Week honor marks the fifth of Von Ruden's career.

The BSU women's tennis team is currently 7-2 on the season and 5-1 in the Little East standings. The Bears travel to UMass Boston on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:30 LEC match with the two-time defending conference champion Beacons.
