BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's tennis team heads into the final week of the regular season on a three-game winning streak.
The Bears scored a 9-0 victory over Plymouth State University on Saturday afternoon at the Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts.
BSU is now 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the Little East Conference with three matches remaining before the postseason tournament opens on Oct. 15.
The Bears are now 19-5, including 10-2 at home, against the Panthers since joining the conference in 2004.
BSU did not lose a set to the Panthers and had five players win their singles and doubles matches.
Madeline Von Ruden (Ashley Falls, Mass.) was a winner at No. 1 singles, defeating Chloe Ahern, 6-0, 6-1, and Mackenzie Silveira (Middletown, R.I.) took No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1, against Tessa LaBarre.
At No. 3 singles, Meghan Lotti (Stoneham, Mass.) defeated Alyssa Craigie, 6-4, 6-3, and Aislyn Kelliher (Plymouth, Mass.) was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Elena Cardoso at No. 4 singles.
Sarah Pothier (Rochester, Mass.) scored a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Maddie Lorenz at No. 5 singles while Samantha Bettencourt (Tiverton, R.I.) won at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 7-5.
At No. 1 doubles, Von Ruden and Silveira won over Ahern and LaBarre, 8-0, while Kelliher and Morgan Smith defeated Craige and Cardoso, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles.
The No. 3 doubles team of Lotti and Bettencourt won over Lorenz and Sofia Orama, 8-1.
Kelliher is now 8-1 in singles play on the season including a perfect 6-0 mark against conference opponents. The doubles pairing of Kelliher and Smith is 6-0 on the year and 5-0 in the Little East.
BSU will play at UMass Boston Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The Beacons have won the past two Little East titles.
Plymouth State is at Southern Maine at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
