Swimming & Diving Wraps Up Competition at ECAC Open Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Bridgewater State University swimming & diving teams wrapped up competition at the ECAC Open Championships held on the campus of the U.S. Naval Academy.

The Bears' finished the three-day event on Sunday.

BSU competed predominantly against Division I opponents at the meet. The Bears were making their first appearance at the EVAC Open Championships since 2016.

On the men's side, junior Desmond Ng (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia) finished 22nd in the 200 breaststroke preliminary with a time of 2:05.70.

Two BSU swimmers took part in the 100 freestyle preliminary with sophomore Jirat Saengthong (Watertown, Mass.) finishing 52nd in 48.32 seconds while junior Cooper Sever (Edgewater, Md.) was 61st in 49.44 seconds.

The BSU 400 freestyle relay team featuring Saengthong, junior Richard Palanza (Mansfield, Mass.) and seniors Thomas Roch (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Michael Losardo (Pittsfield, Mass.) finished 16th in the preliminary race in 3:19.89.

For the women, the lone swimmer to compete on Sunday was senior Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, South Africa). Fiebiger concluded her BSU career by finishing 50th in the 100 freestyle preliminary with a time of 55.73 seconds.

The Bears finished 18th in the women's standings with 20 points and 19th in the men's standings with 14 points.
