Simard Finishes 19th on Three-Meter Board at NCAA Regional Diving Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) finished 19th out of a field of 30 student-athletes during the three-meter diving competition on Saturday afternoon at the 2025 NCAA Division III Northeast/North Regional Women's Diving Championships hosted by Springfield College and held at the Art Linkletter Natatorium.

Simard, who was making her third straight appearance at the regional diving championships, posted an 11-dive score of 398.70 points.

Simard's highest-scoring dive today was an inward 2 ½ somersault tuck for which she earned 48.60 points on her tenth dive. A back 1 ½ somersault 1 ½ twist free that Simard attempted for her fifth dive scored a 45.60. She also recorded 45.60 points on her seventh dive (forward 2 ½ somersault pike) and 45.00 points on her sixth (forward 1 ½ somersault 2 twist free).

NYU senior Issara Schmidt captured top honors in the three-meter competition at the championship meet with 488.30 points.

Sophomore Fiora Beratahani (476.05 pts.) of MIT, Amherst College senior Sydney Bluestein (472.40 pts.), and junior Sadie Smith (464.50 pts.) of Bowdoin College rounded out the top four scorers at the meet.

Last season, Simard placed seventh out of a field of 27 student-athletes during the three-meter competition. She also finished 16th out of 24 competitors as a freshman in 2023.

On Friday, Simard placed sixth in the one-meter diving competition with 415.35 points.

The top four finishers in each of the two diving events at this weekend's regionals automatically qualify for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, with qualifications beyond the top four possible to reach a total of eight divers that will qualify from the region.

Schmidt, Beratahani, Bluestein, Smith and Williams College senior Adelaide Herman each earned an AQ to the national championship meet. Bluestein placed first in the one-meter competition on Friday evening while Schmidt finished second, Beratahani third and Herman fourth. That leaves three spots open from the Northeast/North Region. The qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships will be officially announced next week.
