Simard Earns One-Meter Title at Little East Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Junior Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) captured the one-meter diving title for the third straight year to lead the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team on Saturday during day three of the the Little East Conference Championships held at the Boston Sports Institute.

Simard captured the meet title and earned All-Little East honors on the one-meter board on Saturday morning with an 11-dive score of 461.75 points. She had eclipsed her own school and meet record in the one-meter preliminaries on Friday with an 11-dive score of 479.55 points.

Simard three-peated as the conference champion for both the one-meter and three-meter diving competitions during the four-day meet.

Four other Bears placed in the top three in Saturday night's finals to garner All-Little East accolades.

Junior Julie Remson (Norwalk, Conn.) placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.57. Remson was less than 2/10 of a second off the school record time of 1:01.42 set by former teammate Olivia Ranck in 2023.

Senior Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.) placed third in the 400 individual medley as she touched the wall in 5:01.63, while senior Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, South Africa) was third in the 50 butterfly in 27.93 seconds and graduate student Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.) checked in at third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:03.25.

The Little East championship meet concludes on Sunday with preliminary events getting underway at 10:00 AM. The Bears are second in the team standings with 520 points. Keene State College leads the way with 557 points.
