
BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) captured the conference title and broke here own school and meet record in the three-meter diving competition on Thursday at the Little East Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Babson College Morse Pool.
Simard posted an 11-dive score of 485.35 points in the finals to win the event and earn All-Little East honors as she eclipsed her previous standard of 477.65 points set earlier in the evening during the preliminaries.
This marks the third straight season that Simard has set the school and meet record on the three-meter board at the Little East Championships. The two-time LEC Diver of the Year will have the opportunity to do the same on the one-meter board at the four-day championship meet later this week. Preliminaries of the one-meter diving competition will take place on Friday with finals on Saturday.
BSU sophomore Jillian Hallman (Raynham, Mass.) finished sixth in the finals of the three-meter diving competition with a personal-best 11-dive score of 333.45 points while classmate Ava Anderson (Lynn, Mass.) was eighth with a score of 326.55 points.
The four-day Little East Swimming & Diving Championships will continue on Friday with preliminaries getting underway at 10:00 AM. The remainder of the championship meet will take place at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley.
