Simard Leads Women's Swimming & Diving on Senior Day

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Junior Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) swept the diving events to lead the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team against Babson College on Senior Day at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears (5-7) dropped a 153-85 decision to visiting Beavers. Babson improves to 7-4 in dual meet competition on the season.

Simard posted winning scores of 297.75 points on the one-meter board and 301.90 points on the three-meter.

Sophomore Ava Anderson (Lynn, Mass.) placed second in both diving competitions. Anderson recorded a career-best score of 219.00 points on the one-meter board and 210.70 points on the three-meter.

Senior Renee Goodale (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) placed second in the 50 freestyle with a season-best time of 27.72 seconds.

Goodale also swam a leg on the Bears' second-place 200 freestyle relay squad along with classmates Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.), Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.) and Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, South Africa).

Junior Ava Fenton (Monument Beach, Mass.) placed second in the 200 individual medley with a season-best time of 2:32.51, while senior Samantha White (Plymouth, Mass.) was second in the 500 freestyle touching the wall in 6:08.27.

Prior to the meet, the Bears honored Camryn Beals (Middleboro, Mass.), Fiebiger, Goodale, Summer Martin (Norton, Mass.), Matte, Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.), Evelyn Olson (Phillipston, Mass.), Pelletier and White.

The Bears wrap up regular season competition next Saturday when they travel to Little East Conference foe Plymouth State University for a two o'clock dual meet with the Panthers.
