BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team cruised to a 201-57 victory over visiting UMass Dartmouth on Friday evening at the Moriarty Pool.
The Bears (1-2) have won seven straight dual meets against the Corsairs and ten of the last 11. The shorthanded Corsairs fall to 0-5 with the setback.
Junior Cailey Simard (Haverhill, Mass.) won both diving events as she posted a score of 273.05 points on the one-meter board and 297.00 points on the three-meter.
Sophomore Ava Anderson (Lynn, Mass.) placed second on both the one-meter (197.75 pts.) and three-meter (206.20 pts.) boards, while classmate Jillian Hallman (Raynham, Mass.) finished third with scores of 178.10 points and 199.50 points, respectively.
The diving trio accounted for 32 team points.
Senior Renee Goodale (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) captured top honors in the 50 breaststroke (34.85) and the 500 freestyle (6:01.87).
Goodale also swam the butterfly leg (30.78) on the Bears' winning 200 medley relay squad which posted a time of 2:10.10. Classmates Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.), and junior Ava Fenton (Monument Beach, Mass.) joined Goodale in the 200 medley relay.
Matte also recorded the top times in the 200 freestyle (2:13.53) and 200 individual medley (2:32.57).
The Bears also received event wins from graduate student Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.) in the 200 butterfly (2:37.47) and the 100 freestyle (1:00.94); senior Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.) in the 50 freestyle (27.65) and 50 butterfly (31.57); freshman Evangelina Chaves (Raynham, Mass.) in the 50 backstroke (33.36); junior Julie Remson (Norwalk, Conn.) in the 200 backstroke (2:30.09); and senior Summer Martin (Norton, Mass.) in the 200 breaststroke (2:49.01).
The foursome of Fenton, junior Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.), Chaves and Remson recorded a top time of 1:51.76 in the 200 freestyle relay.
The Bears are off until Saturday, November 23rd when they travel to Clark University for a one o'clock meet with the Cougars.
