Women's Swimming & Diving Opens 2024-2025 Campaign with 147-76 Setback to DII St. Michael's

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team dropped its season opener on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears lost to Division 2 Saint Michael's College of Vermont, 147-76, at the Dr. Mary Jo Moriarty Swimming Pool.

Sophomore Ava Anderson (Lynn, Mass.) was the only individual winner for BSU, taking both diving events.

Anderson was first in the 1-meter diving with180.25 points and the 3-meter diving with 197.40 points.

Senior Samantha White (Plymouth, Mass.) took second in the 50 breaststroke in 35.07 and was fourth in the 50 freestyle in 28.62.

Junior Julie Remson (Norwalk, Conn.) was second in the 50 backstroke in 32.53 and fourth in the 200 freestyle in 2:28.33.

Sophomore Jillian Hallman (Raynham, Mass.) was second in 1-meter diving with 166.30 points in her BSU debut.

Senior Olivia Pelletier (East Kingston, N.H.) was third in the 50 freestyle in 27.76 and third in the 100 freestyle in 1:00.01.

Junior Emily Bradford (Pittsfield, Mass.) took fourth in the 1,000 freestyle in 13:03.03 and was fifth in the 100 freestyle in 1:06.52.

Graduate student Brynn Murray (Chelmsford, Mass.) was fourth in the 50 butterfly in 30.50 and fourth in the 50 backstroke in 32.96.

Senior Renee Goodale (Vineyard Haven, Mass.) was third in the 100 individual medley in 1:11.34 and fifth in the 50 breaststroke in 37.02. Senior Brianna Matte (Cumberland, R.I.) took third in the 50 butterfly in 30.37.

Senior Jenna Fiebiger (Johannesburg, South Africa) was third in the 500 freestyle in 6:40.69.

Placing fifth were sophomore Natalie Lizotte (Stratford, Conn.) in the 200 freestyle in 2:37.96 and junior Gillian Costa (Fall River, Mass.) in the 50 freestyle in 31:82.

Freshman Eva Chaves (Raynham, Mass.), making her collegiate debut, was fifth in the 100 IM in 1:14.11.

Chaves, Murray, Fiebiger and Matte won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:50.66.

BSU is at the Roger Williams Invitational on Oct. 26 at 11 a.m.
