Women’s Swimming & Diving Sets Two School Records at NEISDA Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- A pair of school records fell as the Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team competed during day three of the 2019 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships on Saturday at the MIT Alumni Pool.

Junior Megan Bonney (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) earned All-NEISDA honors as she tied for second place in the 50 butterfly with a school record time of 26.98 seconds. Bonney eclipsed the previous program mark of 27.46 seconds set by Jillian Coache 11 years ago in 2008.

The Bears' relay squad featuring Bonney, seniors Haley Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) and Danielle Souza (Mansfield, Mass.), and junior Adi Tobias (North Attleboro, Mass.) finished fifth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:52.67. The foursome broke the previous school record of 1:54.81 set last season at the NEISDA Championships.

Bonney has played a part in four of BSU's six record-setting performances over the last three days, two individual and two relay.

Bridgewater State is in fifth place in the team standings with 516.5 points heading into the fourth and final day of the championship meet.
