Women's Swimming & Diving Edges Clark, 138-130

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's swimming & diving team posted a 138-130 victory over visiting Clark University on Saturday afternoon at the Moriarty Pool.

Bridgewater State (4-1) placed first in six of the 16 events. The Bears' depth was the advantage in the dual meet which came down to the final event of the day.

Trailing 126-125 heading into the meet-ending 200 freestyle relay, the Bears placed first and third in the event to register 13 points and win the meet, 138-130.

The foursome of senior Danielle Souza (Mansfield, Mass.), juniors Megan Bonney (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) and Mackenzie Coogan (Assonet, Mass.), and sophomore Allison Hunt (Norton, Mass.) captured top honors in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:45.19.

Coogan added a pair of individual victories in the 200 freestyle (2:05.77) and the 50 freestyle (25.98).

Senior Haley Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) also won two events for the Bears as she was the first to touch the wall in the 100 backstroke (1:04.62) and the 200 backstroke (2:23.48).

Senior Julia Gagne (South Hadley, Mass.) rounded out Bridgewater's event winners as she placed first in the 200 breaststroke (2:52.23).

The Bears return to competition on Wednesday evening when they travel to Roger Williams University for a six o'clock meet with the Hawks.
