BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- On Senior Night at the Mary Jo Moriarty Pool, the host Bridgewater State University women's swimming and diving team fell to visiting Babson College by a score of 110-99.
With the loss, Bridgewater falls to 4-10 overall in dual meet action while Babson improves to 5-8.
Prior to the meet, the Bears honored seniors Danielle Jolly (Swampscott, Mass.), Renee Marcos (Lakeville, Mass.) and Katie McLean (Dracut, Mass.) who were competing in the final home meet of their careers.
Sophomore Chelsea Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) paced the hosts with a pair of wins in the 1,650 freestyle (19.44.24) and the 500 freestyle (5:52.33). Freshman Kristen Carey (East Taunton, Mass.) also finished second in both the 1,650 (19:52.73) and 500 (5:56.67).
Sophomore Ashley Dunican (Bennington, Vt.) placed first in the 100 backstroke (1:08.05), while Marcos, junior Rhiannon White (Falmouth, Mass.) and sophomore Nelia Borden (Fall River, Mass.) added second place finishes in the 50 freestyle (27.90 seconds), 400 individual medley (5:22.77) and 200 freestyle (2:09.62), respectively.
In upcoming action, the Bears will host their annual Alumni Meet on Saturday. The following Saturday, February 4th, Bridgewater will take on WPI in the regular season finale for both teams. The meet will take place at Clark University.
