Women's Swimming & Diving Falls to Westfield, 145-121

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Westfield State University women's swimming and diving team opened the spring semester portion of its schedule with a 145-121 victory over Bridgewater State University on Saturday, Jan. 21.

Westfield improves its dual meet record to 3-2 while Bridgewater drops to 4-8.

Junior Katie Cox was the only double winner; she finished first in the 200 freestyle (2:09.00) and 100 freestyle (59.85). Cox also swam the third leg on the winning 200 medley relay team that included Laura Sauriol, Kirsten LaMotte and Jenna Tasse.

Also placing first for the Owls were: Amanda Labriola (50 backstroke, 32.16), LaMotte (50 breaststroke, 33.67), Tasse (50 freestyle, 25.93), Kim Schmidt (1-meter diving, 267.80 points), Jess Lindsay (100 backstroke, 1:09.80), and Lauren Connolly (100 breaststroke, 1:20.74).

Finishing first for the Bears were Chelsea Nolan in the 1,000 freestyle (11:45.60), Kristen Carey (500 freestyle, 5:44.23), Rhiannon White (100 butterfly, 1:08.98), Renee Marcos (50 butterfly) and Kendra Perry (100 individual medley).
