Women's Swimming & Diving Team Competes at UMD Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's swimming and diving team competed at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.  There was no team scoring in the event.

Sophomore Chelsea Nolan (Lowell, Mass.) took second in the 1,650 freestyle with a season-best time of 19:44.15 and also posted a second place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:48.40) to lead the Bears.

Junior Rhiannon White (Falmouth, Mass.) added a third place showing in the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 1:09.61, while freshman diver Christina Minich (Wellesley, Mass.) captured second on the one-meter board 185.40 pts) and third on the three-meter 155.35 pts).

Sophomore Nelia Borden (Fall River, Mass.) swam to season-best times in both the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle events.  She posted a time of 2:12.07 to place sixth in the 200 and finished fourth in the 100 checking in at 1:00.59.

In the relays, the Bears' 400 freestyle team of Borden, sophomore Ariel Gillis (Blackstone, Mass.) and freshmen Taylor Brochu (Cotuit, Mass.) and Sarah Rechtiene (Southbury, Conn.) placed fourth with a time of 4:10.13.

The Bears will travel to Western New England University on Wednesday evening for a six o'clock meet with the Golden Bears.
