Women's Swim Team in 10th Place at NEISDA Championships

Day One Results

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College women's swimming & diving team is in 10th place in a 21-team field after the first day of action at the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Division II/III Championships held on the campus of UMass Dartmouth.

The Bears tallied 121 points during the first day of events. Keene State is in first place with 330 points followed by Bentley University with 303.

Five BSC swimmers, one diver, and two relay teams were in Friday evening's finals.

Junior Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, IN) captured All-NEISDA honors as she placed third in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:17.80.Senior Sarah Fuller (Palmer, MA) posted a seventh place finish in the 50 freestyle (:26.60), while fellow senior Erica Robinson (Lynn, MA) was eighth in the 200 backstroke (2:22.19).

Freshman Jennifer Jason (Montague, MA) and senior Katrina Scholtz (Amesbury, MA) placed 11th (:34.81) and 15th (:35.72) respectively in the 50 breaststroke, while sophomore Renee Marcos (Lakeville, MA) added a 13th place showing in the one-meter diving competition (288.15 points).

The 200 freestyle relay team of Fuller, Robinson, Morwick and sophomore Kristen Slagmolen (Woburn, MA) was 9th in the event with a time of 1:47.46.  The 400 medley relay team consisting of Robinson, Jason, Morwick and Fuller finished in eighth place with a time of 4:21.98.

The championship meet will continue Saturday and conclude on Sunday.
