Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Senior forward Megan Williamson (Ludlow, MA) scored a pair of goals, and fellow seniors Kaitlin Lamothe (Wrentham, MA) and Julie Sullivan (Whitman, MA) both added a goal and an assist, to lead the Bridgewater State College women's soccer team to a 4-0 shutout victory over MASCAC rival Fitchburg State this afternoon in Bridgewater.

BSC improves to 4-1-2 on the season as they have now won four straight games and are unbeaten in their last six.  The Bears are also a perfect 2-0 in the MASCAC.  Bridgewater is now 13-1-2 all-time versus the Falcons (7-4, 1-2 MASCAC) since the teams first met in 1993.

Williamson got the Bears on the board less than five minutes into the game as she notched her second goal of the season off an assist from Sullivan.  Sullivan would give BSC a 2-0 lead in the 28th minute with an unassisted tally.  The goal was her third of the year.

Less than five minutes late Lamothe continued the Bears scoring spree with her team-leading seventh goal of the season.  Sophomore midfielder Kylie Beaton (Epsom, NH) picked up the assist on the goal.

Williamson capped off the scoring with her second goal of the game and third of the season in the 60th minute with Lamothe getting the assist.

With their four-goal ouput today, the Bears have found the back of the net 16 times over the last four games.

Bridgewater State goalies Ashley Springer (West Springfield, MA) and Kayla Grover (Haverhill, MA) were solid in net combining for eight saves. Thanks to their great play, along with a strong defensive effort, the Bears registered the team's first shutout of the season.

Fitchburg State freshman goaltender Melanie Berent (West Hartford, CT) turned aside five shots and did not allow a goal in relief of starting netminder Emily Swan (Franklin, MA).

The Bears host non-conference foe UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30.  Fitchburg is off until next Saturday when the Falcons host Westfield State (6:00 PM) in a key MASCAC game.
