Women's Soccer Battles to 2-2 Tie with Babson College

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - Bridgewater State College senior forward Kaitlin Lamothe (Wrentham, MA) tallied a pair of goals, including the game-tying goal, as BSC and Babson College battled to a 2-2 double overtime tie in collegiate women's soccer action this afternoon from Swenson Field in Bridgewater.

Lamothe notched her second goal of the afternoon in the 72nd minute off an assist from junior midfielder Jacklyn Wisocky (Brockton, MA).  Lamothe had also given the Bears an early 1-0 lead as she scored her first goal of the season in the 13th minute of play.  Junior midfielder Christine Soucy (Rockland, MA) assisted on Lamothe's first goal.

Babson evened the score at 1-1 on a goal by sophomore Patty Pytlik (Wellesley, MA) less than four minutes into the second half.  Junior Kayla Pomponi (Belmont, MA) then put the Beavers up 2-1 in the 61st minutes on an unassisted goal as her shot deflected off a Bridgewater State defender. Pomponi also assisted on Pytlik's goal.

Neither team could find the back of the net after Lamothe's game-tying goal.  Babson had two shots in the overtime periods and BSC just one. 

The Beavers outshot the Bears by a margin of 16-8.  Babson also had 17 corner kick opportunities as opposed to just three for Bridgewater State.

Sophomore goaltender Kayla Grover (Haverhill, MA) registered seven saves between the pipes for the Bears.  Sophomore Sarah Macary (Woodbury, CT) turned aside four shots in goal for Babson.

The Bears (0-1-1) host Brandeis University on Wednesday September 17th at 3:30.  Babson (2-2-2) hosts Framingham State College at 4 PM on Tuesday the 16th.
