NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Bridgewater State University wrestling team dropped a pair of bouts to nationally ranked teams on Saturday at a tri-match hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

The Bears (4-10) dropped a 37-9 decision to #17 New York University, and were blanked by #11 Coast Guard, 47-0.

Senior 174-pounder Michael Hopkins (Swampscott, Mass.) and sophomore 197-pounder Christian Curley (Bridgewater, Mass.) each picked up a win for Bridgewater State.

Hopkins cruised to a 21-3 technical fall victory over Finn Eskeland of NYU.

Curley earned an 18-10 major decision against NYU's Luke DuPont. He also dropped a tough 4-2 decision to Coast Guard's Kevin Pandorf. Pandorf was ranked sixth in the most recent National Wrestling Coaches Assocation (NWCA) Division III Region One Rankings.
