
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman goalkeeper Sara Skaff has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week.
A native of Lowell, Massachusetts, Skaff went 2-0 between the pipes for the Bears last week with 20 saves, a .500 save percentage and a 10.24 goals against average. She also added three ground balls.
Skaff made 12 saves, including a key stop with 57 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, in a 12-11 win over Coast Guard; and turned aside eight shots in a 13-10 victory over Emmanuel.
In eight games this season, Skaff is 7-1 with 75 saves, a .497 save percentage and a 9.87 goals against average in 462-plus (462:11) minutes of work.
Skaff presently leads all MASCAC netminders in wins, games played games started, minutes played and saves. She is also second among the conference leaders in both save percentage and goals against average.
On a national level, Skaff ranks 29th in all of Division III in saves.
The BSU women's lacrosse team is currently 8-1 on the season. The Bears, who open MASCAC play on Saturday morning (11:00 AM) at Worcester State, have already matched their season win total from a year ago.
