Sara Skaff Named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman goalkeeper Sara Skaff has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week.

A native of Lowell, Massachusetts, Skaff backstopped the Bears to a perfect 2-0 week as she notched 21 saves and posted a .553 save percentage as well as an 8.50 goals against average in 120 minutes of work. The rookie netminder also added seven ground balls and a caused turnover.

Skaff made 15 saves and notched five ground balls in her collegiate debut, a 13-9 season-opening victory on the road over Salve Regina University. She also turned aside six shots and recorded two ground balls to go along with a caused tunover in an 18-8 road win over Wheaton College.

Skaff is the Bears' first MASCAC Rookie of the Week since teammate Meredith Sylvia earned the honor three times in 2023.

The BSU women's lacrosse team is off to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 2019 squad opened the season with three straight wins.
