Camryn Gonslaves Named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University senior attack Camryn Gonsalves has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week.

A native of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Gonsalves notched 11 goals and two assists for 13 points in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears while adding seven ground balls and seven caused turnovers.

Gonsalves poured in a career-high eight goals and dished out two assists for a career-best ten points in the Bears’ 17-11 win over UMass Dartmouth. She also contributed four ground balls and four caused turnovers in the victory over the Corsairs.

Gonsalves scored three goals, including the 100th of her career, to go along with three ground balls and three caused turnovers in a 16-9 triumph over the University of New England.

Throught four games this season, Gonsalves checks in with 19 goals and 11 assists for 30 points as well as 11 grounds balls and seven caused turnovers.

Gonsalves currently leads the MASCAC in goals, assists and scoring, and is tied for the conference lead in both ground balls and caused turnovers.

On a national level, Gonsalves is tied for fifth in all of Division III in scoring, tied for seventh in goals and tied for ninth in assists. She is also 12th among the DIII leaders in shots per game (11.75).

In 53 games over four seasons with the Bears, Gonsalves has amassed 102 goals and 62 assists for 163 points. She has also accumulated 61 ground balls, ten draw controls and 33 caused turnovers.

The MASCAC Player of the Week accolade marks the third of Gonsalves' career.

The BSU women's lacrosse team is off to a 4-0 start for the first time since the 2016 squad also opened the season with four straight wins.
