Women's Lacrosse Falls to Plymouth State, 18-4

PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- The Plymouth State University women's lacrosse team cruised to an 18-4 win over visiting Bridgewater State University on Tuesday evening at Panther Field.

The Panthers improve to 4-5 on the season while the Bears fall to 4-8. Plymouth holds a 26-10 lead in the all-time series.

The Panthers scored the first six goals of the game and never looked back. Plymouth led 9-2 after one and 14-3 at the break.

Eight different players scored for the hosts with Tarryn O'Brien (Weymouth, Mass.) and Maddie Hunt (Littleton, Mass.) leading the way with four goals apiece. O'Brien also dished out an assist.

Amelia Thomas (Hopkinton, N.H.) added three goals for the Panthers who also received two goals and three assists from Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.) as well as two goals and a pair of helpers from Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.). Stowell led all players with an impressive 12 draw controls.

Plymouth held a decided 40-13 shot advantage for the game as well as a 21-5 edge in draw controls.

Margie Black (Longmeadow, Mass.) made four saves to pick up her fourth win of the season between the pipes for the Panthers.

Camryn Gonsalves (East Bridgewater, Mass.) potted a pair of goals for Bridgewater State. Savannah Herrington (Kinnelon, N.J.) and Erin McIntyre (Tewksbury, Mass.) checked in with a goal and an assist apiece. McIntyre added a game-high seven ground balls to go along with two draw controls and three caused turnovers.

Brooke La Torra (Oak Park, Calif.) and Laura Giovaniello (Walpole, Mass.) combined to make 12 saves in goal for the Bears. Giovaniello came on to start the second quarter and turned aside nine shots in 45 minutes of action.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday afternoon. The Bears travel to Westfield State University to take on the defending MASCAC champion Owls at noon. The Panthers head to Eastern Connecticut State University for a one o'clock Little East Conference matchup with the Warriors.
