Women's Lacrosse Falls to Tufts University, 19-6

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Tufts University women's lacrosse team tallied the first eighth goals of the game and never looked back as the Jumbos knocked off host Bridgewater State College, 19-6, this afternoon in Bridgewater.

Freshman midfielder Amanda Roberts (Wenham, MA) scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead Tufts which improved to 4-3 on the season.  Roberts scored two of her four goals and added an assist during the Jumbos 8-0 run to open the game.

Senior midfielder Alyssa Corbett (Malvern, PA) also posted a six-point performance as she notched three goals and three assists.  Corbett was involved in the scoring of four the first eight goals of the game.

Also filling the scoring stat sheet for the Jumbos was senior attack Sarah Williams (Bethesda, MD) who potted four goals, and junior attack Chrissie Attura (Yarmouth, ME) who added three goals and an assist.  Sophomore attack Emily Johnson (Yarmouth, ME) chipped in with two goals and two assists.

Freshman attack Jenny Jones (Framingham, MA) paced the Bears with a goal and two assists, while freshman attack Courtney Lennon (Medfield, MA) added a pair of goals. Freshman midfielder Erin Quimby (Chelmsford, MA) played well off the bench for the Bears on the defensive end as she recorded four groundballs, two caused turnovers and a draw control.

Tufts held a 30-11 edge in shots as well as a 17-9 advantage in draw controls.  The Jumbos also converted 4 of 6 free position attempts while Bridgewater was just 1-for-4. 

BSC sophomore goaltender Meghan Griffin (Billerica, MA) turned aside 10 shots in her first game back after missing the last five games due to injury.  Tufts freshman netminder Sara Bloom (Summit, NJ) stopped three shots to earn her fourth win of the season.

Bridgewater is back in action on Saturday at 4 PM as the Bears host NEWLA rival Becker College.  Tufts hosts Colby College on Saturday at 1.
