Kylie Grassi Named to NEWBA Team of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fifth time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Kylie Grassi has been selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Team of the Week.

A native of Plymouth, Massachusetts, Grassi averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, three assists and 1.5 steals in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears while shooting 46.9% (15-32) from the floor and 77.8% (14-18) at the free throw line.

Grassi notched 24 points, eight rebounds (two offensive), three assists and two steals in a 67-54 victory over Wheaton College, and tallied 21 points, seven rebounds (three offensive), three assists, a steal and a blocked shot in a 69-65 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) win over Worcester State University.

Through 16 games this season, Grassi is averaging 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.8 steals. She is also shooting 31.3% (25-80) from three-point range and 72% (90-125) at the charity stripe.

Grassi currently leads the MASCAC in scoring and made free throws, and ranks third in minutes played (35.5 mpg). She is also fourth among the conference leaders in made field goals (91) three-point shooting percentage and free throw shooting, as well as tied for fourth in made three-pointers.

On a national level, Grassi is presently tied for sixth in all of Division III in made free throws, and ranks 45th in scoring.

In 91 games over four seasons with the Bears, Grassi has amassed 1,499 points, 390 rebounds, 207 assists, 50 blocks and 179 steals. She is the Bears' all-time leader in scoring and made free throws (416). She is also tied for second in made field goals with 496, trailing only BSU Hall of Famer Carolyn Parsley who connected for 535 field goals from 1982 to 1986.

The NEWBA Team of the Week honor marks the marks the 16th of Grassi's career.

Earlier this week, Grassi was named the MASCAC Player of the Week for the third time this season and ninth time in her career.

The BSU women's basketball team is currently 10-6 on the season and 2-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears enterain conference foe Fitchburg State University on Wednesday night at 7:30.
